This past week brought some good news! And some even better news! First off, Brandon came home and said he wasn't going to Mojave Viper to do desert training! yay! This meant that he was going to be here for Chloe's birthday! Originally, he had planned to leave that day! Bummer for Chloe, I know! Nothing changes as far as the plans to celebrate her birthday! We just couldn't change anything a week before the event. And come to find out, he may have duty anyway! Honestly, I would take duty because that means he's only gonna be gone for 24 hours- not 30 days! So the next day Brandon comes home and said that we needed to talk when he got home. Just to be clear- when he came home, it was just to change his clothes and go back out the door. That didn't set all that well with me, because the last time he said that- well, let's just say it wasn't pretty! Once home he proceeds to tell me that it was good news for me but not for us financially. I was thinking that they were going to take our BAS even though he wasn't going to Mojave Viper (he has thought they would take it anyway) but I was wrong. Come to find out, he's 85% positive he's NOT deploying to Afghanistan in the fall. I'm not going to lie- I'm beyond thrilled that he's not going to war! I know that it's a part of his job and I married into this lifestyle, but let me tell you, it doesn't make it any easier! We knew about this deployment well before we arrived to Camp Pendleton. Slowly but surely I got used to the idea of him being gone (even on Chloe's birthday) and deploying for the first time in over 5 years just to find out that he may not. And, the kicker is that even though he's not deploying, he still can't put in his recruiting package. That was our original plan: deploy, come home in the spring, put in his package and then go to recruiting school. Then we would move, yet again, but this time hopefully it would have been closer to home. Then he would have possibly gotten out of the military! So he can't deploy, can't put in to be a recruiter and will be deploying in the fall of 2012! Are you kidding me?! I know I should be happy, but like I said, I would rather him deploy now and get it out of the way. And the reason it wouldn't have been good news financially is because you get paid extra money when you are in a combat zone. It would have came in handy! Now we will just suck it up and deal with what's been handed to us! It really may be a blessing in disguise because we all know what could happen when there is a war! So for now I'm thankful even though the Marine Corps really knows how to stick it to people! And I mean that in the kindest possible way! ha ha!
And some cute pictures of my beautiful family :)
We took Chloe to see Toy Story 3 on Saturday! It was so good! Must buy the trilogy when it comes out!
