So busy in SoCal :)

Well some of that is a lie. We have been busy on the weekends. Not so much during the week. I just have not given my blog a second thought. I keep saying that I need to update, but then I get sidetracked. Oh the excuses :) Anyway... Memorial Day weekend, we took a day trip to San Diego for the first time. The USS Midway is there and they were inviting people to come be a part of their holiday ceremony. It was a great tribute to all of the fallen heroes that we are so thankful for. After the ceremony, we got to tour the Midway for free. We toured another battleship in Charleston, Sc and we really enjoy that type of stuff. It's educational and a great way to learn about American history and especially about our military since we live that lifestyle! After the tour, we had lunch at Benihana Japanese restaurant. The food was ok but not the best place I've ever been! Pretty sure we won't be going back. We also found some great little stores to shop at. We got Chloe some cute summer clothes, then stopped for dessert at Maggie Moo's. They are a little pricey but it's delish! A few days before our trip, I had been researching San Diego and came across this absolutely beautiful hotel- Hotel Del Coronado. Google it! It's like 100 years old and full of Dan Diego history and it's right on top of the beach! It's just beautiful! After the research, MSN listed their top 10 beaches for 2010 and guess what beach was on there? Coronado Beach. It was number three. So we just had to go check it out. You drive over the San Diego/Coronado Bay Bridge and you can see the marina and the beach and it's just gorgeous. The bridge is by no means small, either. We took a walk on the beach. The water was not warm at all. That's something we are going to have to get used to, I guess! We had a great trip! I've got some pictures to share with you as well! We can't wait to go back.

Other things that have been going on...

Chloe had her field day at school on June 10. I volunteered to chaperone some of the kids. I stayed the whole time because I wanted to get pictures of Chloe, of course. I've not had many opportunities to do that at this school. Hopefully that will change next year!

On June 11, Chloe received a couple of awards. One for being an outstanding citizen and the other for perfect attendance.

They gave her an award with someone elses name on it, but thankfully we brought home the right one :)

The last day of school is coming up this week. Finally! It feels like it is taking forever to get here because she gets out so much later than everyone else we know! But the good thing is that they start later. Like the last Monday of August or something! I'm contemplating taking cupcakes or something so that her class can celebrate her birthday since it's in the summer!

Speaking of Chloe's birthday...
It's quickly approaching and I am having the hardest time figuring out what to get her! She wants a trampoline and we don't have a big enough backyard for that! Isn't it pathetic that our yard is that small?! So we're thinking of getting her a new bike. She has graduated to a bigger bike. Instead of 16" wheels, she's gonna be getting a 20" wheel bike. She's excited. We took her to Wal-Mart and let her "test drive" a couple of them and she did really well. I also got her the Justin Beiber CD and a new outfit. She also got a few other things. I may also get her another outfit and she always gets a new dress (not as a gift) to wear on her birthday. But a couple months ago, while we were still living in SC we got her a really cute dress and I told her that it could be used for her birthday because it has a cute little cardigan that has ribbons and stuff on it! So I think she's going to wear that one. She wore it at Easter as well. The plan is to take Chloe and her really good friend Arianna and maybe Amanda to the hobby shop on base and let them paint ceramics. The girls get to pick an item under $10 to paint and then in a couple days after it's been fired and glazed I will go pick them up! Then we will have cake and ice cream and maybe pizza since it will be right around dinner time. The paining is from 2-4 but it's on mainside and that's a 45 minute drive. The painting will be done on July 3. Then on July 4 (yes I know that's Independence Day but with the Marine Corps, sometimes you have to make due) we are taking Chloe to Sea World. From the time we found out we were moving to California, Chloe had been set on going to LegoLand, even though she didn't know anything about it! So Brandon and I said ok that we would take her somewhere special. Any kind of amusement park (except Disneyland) that she wanted. We gave her options and told her the fun things to do there. She settled on Sea World. The reason we have to do it on the 4th is because Brandon is leaving on her birthday to go to Desert training. We are not happy about that but as I said, we have to make due. That's another reason we agreed to take her somewhere special. We want to have a family day since Brandon is going to be gone for about 30 days. Summer won't be the same without him!

Hope everyone is having a great day!
