1. Chloe started 2nd grade August 30, 2010! She is loving it! We got to meet her teacher prior to school starting and she seems nice. Amanda McCarthy is her name and she's young. It's her first year at San Onofre, coming from Mary Fay Pendleton, another school within the FallBrook Union School District. So far, so good!
2. Chloe also started her 4th season of soccer the same week that she started school. Her coach is Ian and he's really good with the kids! Camp Pendleton does things VERY different with their youth sports! Instead of just having 6 and 7 year olds on a team (like how it would be if we were still at Parris Island), they have Under 8 and Over 8! Brandon and I were not happy about that because since Chloe has been in soccer for so long, it wasn't fair that while the coach was teaching these 4 and 5 year olds that were new to the sport, Chloe was going to be bored. Everything he is teaching, she already knows. Chloe has not really taken on the role of leader because even though she has a great, outgoing personality, that's not really who she is. We just feel like she's had a setback. Nonetheless, she still enjoys the sport and has a good time with her new found friends! :)
3. Brandon just came off 2 weeks of pre-deployment leave. It was so nice having him home! It gave us a chance to reconnect as a couple and have our alone time while Chloe was at school! We have been going back and forth with "Is he going to deploy or isn't he?" and it's looking like he is! It could be as early as the middle of October or sometime in November. I'm praying for the later date because that is more time he will get to spend with us!
4. Today, October 3rd, is when Brandon graduated boot camp, back in 2003 of course! Brandon has so many people that love him and have supported him through out his time in the Military! He is very blessed and we are so thankful to have him as our hero!
5. I am having surgery October 5th to have my gallbladder removed. Back in July and once in August, I had a couple of attacks so I had to get an ultrasound done to check for stones and then schedule a surgery date! Brandon is taking a couple days off just to make sure I'm ok! Chloe will have to miss school the day of surgery because I have to be at the hospital at 6 am and it would be too much trouble to get me to the hospital and then get her to school and then possibly worry about a sitter! I have already told her teacher but am going to have her send her school work home with her so she doesn't miss anything!
6. The week after my surgery, Mrs. McCarthy wants me to do some volunteer work in the classroom a couple days a week to help the students with their reading. She does this system called Fluency reading. Every week she sends home a short story (and by short, I mean 3-4 paragraphs) and the student has to read as much of the story as they can in 1 minute and they have to do this 3 times a day Monday thru Thursday (on Friday, they do it for the teacher). Then we graph their progress so that by the end of the week they should be reading more than they were on Monday. It also helps with their comprehension. Reading something over and over again 5 days in a row should help any ones memory! ha ha! So anyway, I'm going to help with that and anything else she might need.
7. I found out my sister is going to have a baby! I actually found out the beginning of September. She's due April 12, 2011! My niece Jordyn will be about 7 1/2 years old! She will be a great big sister!
8. My best friend Maria had her beautiful baby boy! Aidan Joseph was born September 15, 2010 @ 7:59 am weighing just over 7 lbs! Her biggest baby so far! Andrew and Ella were tiny 6 lb babies! He's perfect in every way! In this photo, you can't see Aidan's face, but this is the newly expanded Hubbard family, with Andrew watching over them!
9. Since Brandon will be leaving us for the big sand box soon, (and since we moved here and initially thought he was going to deploy) I wanted for us to plan a weekend trip to either San Diego or Los Angelas. San Diego won! We wanted to do it during his leave but because Chloe was in school and had games, it didn't work out. But there is one weekend during soccer season that she gets a Saturday off- Columbus Day weekend. So on Saturday, October 9, we are getting a hotel in San Diego and are going to the SD Zoo! It's also a big plus that our anniversary is that following Monday, October 11! We have heard such great things about this zoo and are so excited to visit! It will be a great place to make memories :) We are also going to eat at a couple of restaurants that we want to visit. Lucha Libre was featured on the show Man Vs. Food because of their burritos. So Brandon has been wanting to go ever since! Cafe 222 we have been to once before. The day we took Chloe to Sea World. It was so good, we have been dying to go back. Chloe mentions is all the time! We're also going to visit Balboa Park. The zoo is actually located in the park, but we are hoping to explore more of it! It's a ginormous park! We may even go to a Chargers game (if it's a HOME game)!
10. Some thing that I really want to get done before Brandon leaves is family pictures! Either I will take them again using my tripod and self timer or with a professional! Somehow, it WILL be done! :)
Sorry I haven't updated in so long! I'll try not to let it happen again!
