Things are in full swing here at the Rutledge house. We are getting down to the final weeks/days here on Parris Island. Thank the Lord! Chloe's teacher is gathering work for her to do just to keep her refreshed for the weeks she's going to be missing school. We have already scheduled TMO. They are coming to box up on Thursday, April 1 and to load up Friday, April 2. We finally got a bed cover put on the truck. We had an issue with the first guy who tried to put it on so we got our money back and went somewhere else. We had to pay a little more but it was worth it! It looks great, but lets hope it serves its purpose which is to protect our things from water/rain. We had our pre-inspection on the house Monday, March 8. I was super freaked out about it because we didn't know how they did things here. I found out it's a lot different than in North Carolina. It was actually a lot easier. We spent the whole weekend cleaning. Windows, blinds, counters, bathrooms, carpets... Everything we could think of to make this house look brand new! Tammie, our housing manager was very impressed as soon as she walked in the door. I didn't mention at first that we had cleaned. I wanted to see what she would say first. When we first went to her office to put in our 30 day notice, she mentioned about wiping down the window sills. I thought she meant the inside of the window where it closes as well as the outside. So all weekend I spent vacuuming the insides of the windows and the blinds. When she didn't raise the windows to look at them, I mentioned to her that I cleaned them. She was so surprised because that's not what she meant! Ha ha! So now she says I have the cleanest windows in the neighborhood. On the pre-inspection check sheet, all she could write down was that the house was clean! The only bad thing was the oven which she knows we're not doing til after the house is empty because it takes so long to clean, but she still had to write it down. And we have to get some weed killer for the side of the house. We don't even have to pull the weeds, just spray them! Needless to say, I was thrilled. I was mainly paranoid because depending on what we had to do, we only had about 8-10 hours (depending on when TMO showed up) once the house is empty to do it because some of the stuff couldn't have been done until the house was empty. We need to wipe down the base boards and that doesn't take very long but everything we own pretty much is up against the wall! I have no worries now about passing the final! Honestly, we can't afford to have any setbacks. We have to be in Kentucky Saturday! Easter is Sunday and we want to be there with our families! Brandon has also submitted his re-enlistment package and should know something before we leave here! He also did his first PFT post surgery yesterday! He got a first class! Way to go, Babe! So proud of you! His comment to me was,"I just ran 3 miles to secure our future!" I'm very thankful for that and him :)
Chloe is doing great in school. Her reading is improving with every week that passes! We are really going to have to work on that while we are traveling because we don't want her to go backwards! The reading isn't really the problem. She can read or try to read anything you put in front of her! It's the retaining what she reads that she's struggling with! But she's gotten better! We have been more diligent with her about reading and re-reading! And telling her how important it is!
I have already started gathering things that we want to take with us to Kentucky! Things we don't want the movers to touch! There's not a lot of course because we don't have anywhere to put it all! I wish we could just pack everything ourselves but I can't spend a week in a Penske truck! That's just asking for too much! ha ha! Not much else is going on. Brandon's shop is trying to plan a going away for him and they are
The weather has been so beautiful here! it's great getting to spend time outside with Chloe and enjoying the fresh air! The only thing we don't enjoy is the pollen. It's so gross and it turns your car yellow! Yuck!
Hope everyone has a great week! We'll catch up soon!
